- Dec 28-Jan 4 2011 New Years Guatemala Bhakti Celebration
- w/ Akasha Ellis, Bliss Wood, Donnie Cooper and Al Ellis
Celebrate 2011 and your “new beginning” with the adventure of a lifetime …
Leave the lonely winter blues behind as you travel to the highlands of Guatemala where a semi-tropical climate awaits to envelope you with warm days and refreshing cool nights. Meet fabulous new friends and treat yourself to the transformational effects of yoga, kirtan, and Qi Gong. You will walk away from this experience rejuvenated and inspired.
Villa Sumaya is the ideal setting to reflect, heal, and rejuvenate your entire being. Open your heart and expand your confidence for the New Year with yoga for your body, mind, and soul as Akasha Ellis, Bliss Wood, Donnie Cooper, and Al Ellis present a Bhakti experience you’ll never forget. Strengthen your body & mind practicing Ashtanga and Kundalini yoga. Open your heart and rejuvenate your soul as you sing and dance to the incredible World Beat sounds of kirtan and Nurture well-being while practicing Qi Gong.

Mornings will begin with a group sadhana (kirtan/mediation and kundalini yoga set) followed by a led ashtanga primary series session that will leave you feeling enriched and re-energized.
And after a day of exploring and enjoying the amenities of Villa Sumaya and local Mayan villages, we will meet once again to practice a slower and more restorative asana and kundalini set that leaves our muscles relaxed, our hearts open and our minds and bodies ready for a healing and restful night.
This retreat is open to all levels.
Akasha became a student of the renowned master teacher of Kundalini yoga, Yogi Bhajan, at the age of 11. In his twenties, while living and working in India, Akasha began studying Ashtanga yoga with Pattabhi Joi’s nephew, Vishwanath. Akasha currently offers classes, workshops, retreats, and teacher training. He is co-owner of Birmingham Yoga studio. As Akasha believes “a teacher must teach what they know”, this retreat will reflect his personal approach and will include the traditions of Kundalini and classical Ashtanga for a heart-centered class that will leave the student toned, stretched, centered and open, from the inside out.
