Teacher Details

  • Tamryn J. Etten-Bohm
  • tamryn@etten-bohm.com
  • (205) 989-8928

Tamryn is certified by the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute of India and has studied under Manju Jois and been blessed to have attended class with Guriji Sri K. Pattabhi Jois when he visited the U.S. in 2001. She has also attended workshops led by Bryan Kest, Sean Tebor, Doug Keller, Doug Swenson, Nicky Knoff, and James Bryan and other national presenters hosted by Birmingham Yoga.

She teaches an eclectic style of yoga that is strongly Ashtanga influenced, but that focuses on alignment, posture, and awareness of movement. Encouraged by Sean Tebor and a local Feldencrais practicioner named Margaret Pittenger, Tamryn recently began developing a "Rolling Yoga" curriculum to assist clients in training their side-bodies to understand their role as stabilizers and assistors in many movements, but relinquish the role of prime movers to the front-body and back-body muscles. She has developed a few tools to assist yoga instructors in identifying inappropriate side-body muscle involvement in yoga poses, that she is happy to share via email.
